Join us for the 1st annual Grow Your Own Festival, a FREE community event celebrating the joys and benefits of edible gardening in high elevation regions. Formerly individual weekly workshops, now single day events hosted at three unique locations, Tahoe City, Truckee, and South Lake Tahoe.  These special events will feature a high elevation seedling sale and edible gardening demos with a special emphasis on watershed-friendly practices. Whether you are a seasoned gardener or just starting out, this event has something for everyone. Come grow with us!

Register below to attend the FREE festival or reserve your high elevation edible garden seedlings available for pick up at the event. This year's seedling sets specifically chosen for our unique mountain climate include:

  • tomatoes & peppers
  • leafy greens
  • potatoes
  • peas
  • squash
  • onions & leeks
  • edible flowers

Availability is very limited, we encourage you to reserve in advance. Your purchase will help support the future of the Grow Your Own program.  (view details of the high elevation seedling sets available for purchase)

UCCE Master Gardeners of Lake Tahoe will be providing informative hands-on demonstrations and will be available to answer all your questions about what grows best in our region. They will cover topics such as plant selection, soil preparation, watershed friendly practices, and pest control.  Additional demonstrations and vendors will be exhibiting container gardens, raised garden beds, compost, and more. View a full list of the Tahoe City event activities.

For those looking for inspiration, you can tour the gardens at each location to get ideas for your own garden. And, learn about volunteer opportunities that help you learn as you grow!

The Grow Your Own Garden Festival is a must-attend event for anyone interested in edible gardening or simply looking for a fun and educational day out. All-ages are welcome at these family friendly events. Come join us and be inspired with new skills to create your own edible garden in our high elevation community.

The Grow Your Own program is brought to you by the UCCE Master Gardeners of Lake Tahoe, UC Davis Tahoe Environmental Research Center, The Great Basin Institute, The Tallac Historic Site, and Slow Food Lake Tahoe.  Please consider a donation to the Grow-Your-Own Fund to keep the program running.  We appreciate your support of our programs!
