About The Event
We're bringing back the popular Alaskan Salmon Buying Club to the Truckee-Tahoe area! Giving locals the opportunity to purchase sustainably caught WILD Alaskan sockeye salmon at a significant club discount. In return, SFLT will receive 5% of all sales to help support the future of our community programs including the Food Bank Garden, providing free education days and free organic produce for Sierra Community House’s hunger relief program.
This fundraiser is in partnership with Yup'ik Girl Seafood (formerly Eskimo Girl Salmon), founded by Casey Coupchiak. Being female Yup’ik, indigenous to Southwest Alaska, she's worked hard to inherit and hold onto her family's fishing permit - making her a fishing industry minority and quite a GEM! Using her family's small 32-foot boat, the Mera, she fishes the waters of Bristol Bay, AK every summer to bring you the best protein on the planet! The Alaska Department of Fish and Game’s Bristol Bay Salmon Management Plan is recognized as one of the most effective, comprehensive management regimes in the world. Order a 20 lb. case of filets ($15/lb) or portions ($16/lb) for your own freezer, or share with a friend. Ordering closes on March 31st, boxes will be available for pick up in the Truckee River Regional Park on Sunday, April 7th, 10am-1pm. To find out more or order your box for Spring visit:
